Dr. Sunil Skaria is one of SNNC’s interventional nephrologists, specializing in both general nephrology and interventional dialysis access management. The interventional treatments he performs include angioplasty (ballooning of a narrowing in the vein or artery), stenting (a tubular device that remains in the vein or artery to hold the narrowing open), thrombectomy (removal of blood clots), thrombolysis (breaking up blood clots), the MILLER procedure for steal syndrome (banding of a vein to restore blood flow to the hand), and more. Dr. Skaria serves as the Medical Director of the Azura Surgery Center in Reno, Nevada. Dr. Skaria is a graduate of St. John’s University in Queens, New York, and earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency, as well as a fellowship in nephrology at New York Hospital Queens Medical Center. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Skaria joined SNNC in 2007 and is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, and he is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
